QBCMR started in 2024 by combining two quantum beams related research centers, namely, neutron and synchrotron radiation. It aims to apply the quantum beams for advanced materials research. The area welcomes researchers who are willing to use quantum beam instruments operated by IMR and/or who are interested in combining quantum beam and the other facilities of IMR.
The Neutron Section takes over the operations of the former Center of Neutron Science for Advanced Materials and contributes to the formation of nation-wide neutron research platform. The Synchrotron Radiation Section strengthens the close collaboration between synchrotron radiation research and other materials science research, primarily at NanoTerasu. As the whole, QBCMR is aiming at the promotion of the comprehensive use of quantum beam for materials science.
