HFLSM: High Field Laboratory for Superconducting Materials

Proposal Areas

Outline

The High Field Laboratory for Superconducting Materials at Tohoku University’s world-renowned Institute for Materials Research is involved in both basic and applied research into innovative materials that exhibit either conventional magnetic or superconductive properties. Primary facilities for research into the behavior of materials in magnetic fields include the world's only cryogen-free superconducting magnet, a hybrid magnet, which is one of just six such facilities worldwide, and other types of superconducting magnets, which are available for use in GIMRT user programs not only with other departments at Tohoku University but with scientists and engineers from other domestic and overseas institutions.
